Guatemala’s Public Ministry Joins International “Allies for Childhood” Operation Against Sexual Exploitation of Minors

The Public Ministry of Guatemala, through the Anti-Human Trafficking Prosecutor’s Office and its Unit Against Online Child Sexual Exploitation, participated in the international operation “Allies for Childhood”, conducted simultaneously across 15 countries. The operation aimed to combat child sexual exploitation and ensure justice for victims.

Operations in Guatemala:

Two search, inspection, seizure, and evidence collection operations were coordinated:

  • One in the department of Sololá
  • One in the municipality of Mixco, Guatemala

Result:

  • José G. was arrested in flagrante delicto for possessing pornographic material involving minors.
  • Six pieces of evidence linked to the case were seized.

Global Operation Results:

  • Over 80 search warrants executed
  • More than 40 arrests made
  • Identification and rescue of child victims
  • Over 500 electronic devices seized related to online child sexual exploitation

This operation was conducted in collaboration with the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) and involved specialized prosecutor’s offices from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

With these actions, the Public Ministry of Guatemala reaffirms its strong and unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking and child sexual exploitation, working in close coordination with international organizations and prosecutors across the region to guarantee the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents.
