29 Alleged MS-13 Members Formally Bound Over for Criminal Trial in Guatemala

The Office of the Special Prosecutor Against the Crime of Extortion submitted sufficient probable cause evidence before the Criminal Court of First Instance (on duty) against alleged members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, affiliated with the cliques:

  • Bandidos Locos Salvatrucha
  • Addams Locos Salvatrucha
  • Landivarianos Locos Salvatrucha

These individuals were formally bound over for criminal prosecution for various offenses, after being apprehended during operations carried out in El Gallito, Zone 3 of Guatemala City.

The following individuals were charged with Illicit Association and Aggravated Extortion-Related Obstruction of Traffic (in a continued manner):

  1. Ingrid M.
  2. Keylan G.
  3. María S.
  4. Kevin S.
  5. Jesica C.
  6. Delmy L.
  7. Quinberlin P.
  8. Cristian P.
  9. Cristian N.
  10. Angélica T.
  11. Lesvia H.
  12. Yancarlos G.

The following were charged with Illicit Association and Extortion-Related Obstruction of Traffic:

  1. Derek P.
  2. Berna C.

Charged with Illicit Association, Aggravated Extortion-Related Obstruction of Traffic, and Conspiracy to Commit Murder:

  1. Héctor V.

Charged with Concealment (Obstruction of Justice):

  1. Arbin V.

Charged with Illicit Association and Conspiracy to Commit Murder:

  1. Wilson Y.
  2. Sherlyn T.

Charged with Illicit Association:

  1. Carlos N.
  2. Yosseff H.
  3. Brandon A.
  4. Dennis R. (Alias: Metralleta)
  5. Cristian U. (Aliases: CR, Umpalumpa)
  6. Luis A.
  7. Óscar R. (Alias: Coca)
  8. Wendy C.
  9. Elmer M. (Alias: Tripas)
  10. Auner C. (Alias: Fara)

Charged with Illicit Association, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and the Murder of Two Individuals:

  1. Christopher N.

Judicial Measures:

The court granted alternative measures (bail or non-custodial conditions) to seven of the accused individuals.
However, the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Extortion announced that it will appeal this decision.
