The Secretary-General, Angel Arnoldo Pineda Avila and officials of the Public Ministry attended a meeting with Indigenous Authorities of the country, Representatives of The 48 Cantons from Totonicapán, the Indigenous Municipality of Sololá, as well as the Indigenous Authorities of Chichicastenango and Nebaj, at the headquarters of the Procurator´s Office of Human Rights.

During this meeting their requests were heard and it was stated that the Public Ministry is a technical institution with the purpose to ascertain the truth, reiterating the commitment to continue working for the benefit of the country, firm in its investigative duties.

In addition, the role of legality and transparency with which our Institution acts was shared with the attendees, and they were provided with information from the official source regarding the follow-up given to the more than one thousand complaints filed as a result of the 2023 Guatemalan Electoral Process.

It is worth highlighting that the scope of the resolution of the current conflict was a priority throughout the conversation.

The Public Ministry met and will meet with all the representatives of the sectors that are interested in resolving this and any other issues that may arise, always seeking the positive intention of resolution for these representatives.
