The Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes achieves sentence for Ideological Falsehood
The Prosecutor’s Office against Electoral Crimes achieved a two-year prison sentence and suspension of political rights for Mónica Fernanda González Méndez, for the crime of ideological falsehood.
The investigation was developed by following a complaint from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), in which it was revealed that, as a Lawyer and Notary Public, she authorized a document dated October 10, 2020, which contained false information to constitute a committee for the founding of a political party, including the attendance of 670 people to an assembly in Escuintla that was never held, along data of a deceased person and personal information of 39 people that reported that they never really signed such a document confirming that their identity had been stolen. As part of the investigation, through INACIF’s expert reports, it was confirmed that their signatures were evidently forged.
