Prosecutor’s Office against Migrant Smuggling obtains conviction against Human Traffickers
The Public Ministry (MP), through the Prosecutor’s Office against Migrant Smuggling obtained a 10-year prison sentence against Brayan Antonio Alvizures Álvarez, José Antonio Balán, José Alfredo Alvisures Albizures and Emidio Cardona Escobar, for the crime of human trafficking.
At a checkpoint located at kilometer 264.7, in the jurisdiction of Livingston, Izabal, four vehicles were stopped, each of which was transporting five Venezuelan and Cuban nationals, 20 in total, who lacked documents to stay legally in the country.
During the hearing, a fine of Q100 thousand was also ordered for each of them.
