This meeting is taking place from November 13 to 16, 2023, in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This space for exchange and participation is of high importance for the institution, as it originated from a request by the Public Ministry of Guatemala, which was coordinated from 2016 to 2021.
The Public Ministry has actively participated in integrating documents that will be reviewed during the working sessions with the delegates of the Public Prosecutor’s Offices comprising the AIAMP. The aim is to promote the mainstreaming of gender perspectives. The documents include:
1. “Femicides and other violent deaths of women towards the construction of regional information from the AIAMP Public Prosecutor’s Offices» This initiative seeks to articulate strategies for measuring the impact of gender-based violence in each territory.
2. «Regional guidelines for the investigation and litigation of cases of sexual violence» This instrument aims to define minimum guidelines to ensure that criminal proceedings in cases of sexual violence align with applicable international standards. The goal is for each public prosecutor’s office in the region to have a replicable model with tools for the investigation and litigation of cases of gender-based violence.
Additionally, there will be a space to share institutional experiences in incorporating a gender and diversity approach into the management of public prosecutor’s offices. Furthermore, collaborative work with the Network against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (REDTRAM) will address issues related to organized or complex crime and violence against women.
