Coordination through the CICNAG allowed the seizure of 900 packages with suspected cocaine, valued at more than Q111 million
In a joint effort between the Public Ministry of Guatemala, through the Narcotics Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, and the Ministries of Interior and National Defense, on Friday, November 17, a vessel carrying 45 bags with 900 packages with presumptive positive content for cocaine was intercepted at sea, off the Pacific coast, according to field tests.
According to the Prosecutor`s Office, it has an estimated weight of 1,053 kilograms and is valued at $14,215,500 USD, equivalent to Q111,165,210 in national currency. The procedure was carried out with the support of personnel from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (DICRI) at the Pacific Naval Base.
To date, in 2023, a total of 4,955.88 kilograms have been seized, valued at USD $66,904,380.00, equivalent to Q523,192,251.60 in national currency.
