Edgar Eusebio Gaitán García was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison for the crime of sexual assault with aggravated penalty in concurrent reality, after the Women’s Prosecution Agency in Zacapa demonstrated his guilt before the Penal Court for Femicide and other forms of Violence against Women and Sexual Violence in that department.

The prosecution’s investigation verified that the incidents occurred when the victim was 10 and 17 years old in a house located in the La Fragua village of Zacapa, where both were alone. Gaitán García took advantage of the situation to commit the crime.
