The Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, and Mrs. Ingrid Johana Romero Escribá, General Director of INACIF, signed a framework cooperation agreement.

The signing of this agreement is aimed at enhancing the technical and scientific knowledge of personnel from both institutions. 

At the formal ceremony, Mr. Angel Pineda, Secretary-General of the Public Ministry, also took part, alongside Mr. Vladimir Osmán Aguilar Guerra, the Head of the Training Department of INACIF, and Mr. Sergio Raúl Ortíz Herrera, Director of the Public Ministry’s Training Unit, who were also present.

«With the signing of this agreement between the Public Ministry and INACIF, we are confirming that strategic alliance to train and educate quality human talent in the field of forensic sciences and related disciplines to contribute to the strengthening of the justice system,» highlighted Mrs. Porras in her speech.

She also thanked the authorities of INACIF for their willingness to work together, stating, «Experience has shown us that collaborative work is more effective and efficient, especially because through this agreement, we are promoting a continuous, up-to-date academic training program that allows us to strengthen capacities and, consequently, the services provided by both institutions.” 

Mrs. Ingrid Johana Romero Escribá emphasized that the signing of the agreement implies a solid and effective action to strengthen both institutions, as it focuses on the most valuable resource that each one has, its human resources.

For his part, Mr. Angel Pineda, Secretary-General of the Public Ministry, stated that both the Public Ministry and INACIF provide essential services to Guatemalans and are fundamental pillars for the functioning of the country’s justice system. 

Therefore, the signing of the agreement is a significant event that guarantees the Guatemalan population strong institutions that offer pertinent and high-quality care. 

“It is for this reason that in the vision focused on the coordination of efforts to improve the services provided to the population, one of the characteristics of Mrs. Porras Argueta’s administration has been the ability to facilitate different institutions to work together towards a common goal: to ensure efficient and adequate attention to the needs of the population.”

With these actions, the aim is to strengthen the work of both institutions in guaranteeing criminal investigations that allow for a more efficient and effective criminal prosecution.

As part of the terms established in this agreement, both institutions commit to designing, planning, developing methodologies, and executing inter-institutional training programs with the aim of training Prosecutors, Assistant Prosecutors, Crime Scene Technicians of the Public Ministry, and Experts from INACIF, to enhance their capacities, skills, and abilities in their institutional competencies, covering theoretical, legal, jurisprudential aspects, and exchange of experiences and best practices in pursuit of academic and professional excellence, which will be reflected in the service provided to the Guatemalan population.
