The Implementation of GIC Allows the Chiquimula District Prosecutor’s Office to Achieve 99% Prosecutorial Efficiency
The implementation of GIC has allowed the Chiquimula District Prosecutor’s Office to achieve 99% prosecutorial efficiency. This efficiency, achieved through the implementation of Comprehensive Case Management (GIC), has significantly reduced the case backlog in the Chiquimula District Prosecutor’s Office, resulting in better and faster services for the population.
The Prosecutor’s Office implemented this model on September 8, 2020. Before its implementation, the office had a backlog of 13,114 cases, all of which have now been processed and resolved.
Following the implementation of GIC, the Prosecutor’s Office has received 16,522 cases, of which only 175 remain active. The GIC model, established during the administration of Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, has enabled comprehensive support for crime victims, prompt case processing, and a reduction in case backlog. This sets a precedent in strategic criminal prosecution, where unification, integration, knowledge, and a well-trained and strengthened team have led to a significant reduction in case backlog.
During the second year of Mrs. Porras Argueta’s second term at the Public Ministry, a 99% resolution rate of backlog cases from previous administrations has been achieved. Additionally, the shift in the working culture of the Public Ministry towards immediate case management and resolution has led to a 97% resolution rate globally, ensuring efficient justice for the benefit of the population.
