The Public Ministry, through the Anti-Human Smuggling Prosecutor’s Office, executed 12 search warrants, inspections, recordings, and evidence seizures in the departments of Jalapa, Huehuetenango, and San Marcos. With the arrest of six individuals, the Public Ministry successfully dismantled a criminal organization involved in human trafficking and the illegal smuggling of Guatemalans.

The individuals arrested are Roberto de Jesús Orozco y Orozco, Kidman Roberto Orozco Orozco, Nancy Elizabeth Miranda, Patrocinio Vicente Reyes Pérez, Víctor Pérez Mendoza, and Rosmery Baldomero Castillo Herrera.

The Anti-Human Smuggling Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation after learning that a trailer was found in San Antonio, Texas, United States, where 53 migrants, including 22 Guatemalans, died.

This criminal organization operated in the departments of Guatemala, San Marcos, and Huehuetenango, and was involved in the transportation of at least three Guatemalan migrants who were found alive in the aforementioned trailer in San Antonio.

Through the searches conducted on August 21, the provisional arrest for extradition purposes of Rigoberto Ramón Miranda Orozco was also executed, as he is wanted for extradition by the United States Government.

The Anti-Human Smuggling Prosecutor’s Office, through its preliminary investigation, documented the illegal transportation of individuals by this criminal organization through various routes in Mexican territory toward the United States.

Additionally, during the searches, inspections, recordings, and evidence seizures carried out by the Public Ministry, Q259,800.00 in cash was seized from one of the properties belonging to the leader of the criminal organization.
