Chiquimula: Operation against labor exploitation leads to the rescue of four juveniles and three arrests

The Northeastern Regional Agency of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Prosecutor’s Office, based in Chiquimula, in coordination with the regional prosecutor and with the support of the National Civil Police, the Solicitor-General of the Nation, and the Ministry of Labor, carried out seven search, inspection, registration, and evidence seizure proceedings on Tuesday, September 17.

The goal was to locate and rescue juveniles who were victims of labor exploitation and to gather evidence to strengthen the investigation.

As a result, four juveniles, aged 14, 15, and 16, were rescued. They were found performing labor in businesses selling alcoholic beverages, and it was determined that two of them were also sleeping in the raided premises.

The minors, who were immediately compensated for unpaid benefits, were placed under the care of the Solicitor-General of the Nation.

Additionally, the prosecutor’s office coordinated the arrests of Pedro Mendoza Grave, Idalia del Carmen García Vásquez, and Alexandra Leslie María López for the crime of employing minors in work that is harmful to their integrity and dignity.
