PM coordinates seventh arrest for extradition in 2025
The Public Ministry coordinated the arrest of Aler Baldomero Samayoa Recinos, also known as “Chicharra.” His arrest took place in Mexican territory, and arrangements are being made for his transfer to Guatemala.
He is wanted to stand trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that the substance would be unlawfully imported into the United States.
A law enforcement investigation uncovered a large-scale drug trafficking organization operating in Guatemala, identifying its leaders and coordinators responsible for facilitating the transportation of illicit substances.
The defendant and other co-conspirators were directly responsible for distributing multi-ton quantities of cocaine that entered Guatemala by land and through its ports before being supplied to Mexican drug trafficking organizations, ultimately leading to its unlawful importation into the United States.
