«With this powerful statement, Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, led the launch of the new Isabel-Claudina Alert System, which sends text message alerts to Tigo users.

This innovative tool will allow, starting today, information about a missing woman to be sent directly to the mobile phones of people in the area where the incident occurred in a matter of seconds.

With a brief message and a link to the official bulletin, the system activates citizen solidarity to gather information and collaborate on the rapid location of the missing individual.

Citizens can support by contacting the Public Ministry’s hotline (1572), the National Civil Police (110), or the Women’s Observatory website.

With this system, the Public Ministry and the National Coordinator for Immediate Search of Missing Women strengthen a task that already boasts a 96% effectiveness rate in locating women who have been reported missing.

Institutional Coordination

The Attorney General of the Republic highlighted that this step strengthens institutional coordination and the State’s commitment to the lives and dignity of women.

«The lives of women matter and are valuable. Our duty is to ensure an immediate response with a gender-sensitive approach in every search,» she affirmed.

Ms. Lucrecia Vásquez, Secretary of Women at the Public Ministry, emphasized the importance of this initiative as a comprehensive response to the State’s commitments.

«With this system, we aim to provide women and their families with a quick and effective response, in line with every woman’s right to a life free from violence,» she stated.

Mr. Francisco Mancilla, Vice President of B2B at Tigo Guatemala, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to society.

The event also featured the participation of Mrs.  Julia María Juárez, Deputy Secretary General; Ms. Claudia María González, Head of the Women’s Prosecutor’s Office; Ms. Conchita Inés Reyes Morales, General Coordinator of the Social Pastoral – Cáritas Diocese of La Verapaz; and Mr. Héctor Noé Talé López, Deputy Director of Technology for the National Civil Police.

Representatives from the National Coordinator for Immediate Search of Missing Women and Public Ministry personnel, including prosecutorial, technical, and administrative staff, also attended.

The Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to immediate search efforts, justice, and the protection of the lives of all women. Because when we come together, a message can save lives.
