In line with its commitment to institutional strengthening and continuous process improvement, the Public Ministry inaugurated training on the fundamentals of the Private Security Operations Management System, a key initiative aimed at obtaining ISO 18788:2015 certification. The training was primarily focused on security staff and other administrative departments involved in the process.

The inauguration was presided over by the Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, who was accompanied by Mr. Sergio Raúl Ortiz Herrera, Director of the Training Unit (UNICAP); Mrs. Mónica Soto Pivaral, Quality Management Advisor; Mr. Antonio Englenton Peña, Acting Head of the Security Department; and Mrs. Aura Marina Maldonado Batres, General Manager and Legal Representative of ICONTEC Guatemala, S.A.

This training is part of the initiatives outlined in Axis 8 of the Institutional Strategic Plan, aimed at strengthening technical support units and administrative areas through technological modernization, continuous professionalization, and ISO certification. These tools are essential for strategic and efficient criminal investigation and prosecution.

ISO 18788:2015 provides an international framework for private security service providers, setting principles and requirements for an effective management system. The standard emphasizes risk management, accountability to the law, and respect for human rights in security operations.

With this initiative, the Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to continuous education, quality standardization, and the improvement of its institutional services for the benefit of the Guatemalan population.
