Attorney General Takes Significant Step Toward ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Certification
The Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, met with the lead auditor from the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC) to receive the results of the external audit conducted on the Public Ministry as part of the process to obtain the ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery certification.
The lead auditor informed Mrs. Porras Argueta that she recommended granting the SGAS ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management certification. This certification applies to the supervision of regional prosecutors’ offices in receiving complaints, analysis, investigation, follow-up, and processing of cases in accordance with the law. It also covers activities related to the Quality Management System, analysis and verification, general oversight, the anti-corruption secretariat, the training unit, disciplinary boards, the Criminal Analysis Directorate, the Criminalistics Investigations Directorate, the Integrated Information System coordination, disciplinary procedures, and processes under administrative leadership.
The Attorney General expressed her satisfaction and gratitude to the entire team for their efforts to achieve this new certification. She emphasized that it would benefit the people of Guatemala by ensuring a transparent, ethical, and law-abiding public service, to the satisfaction of users.
The event was also attended by Acting Secretary General Erick Schaeffer Cabrera, Anti-Corruption Secretary Estuardo Ávila, Quality Management System Advisory Head Monica Soto, Administrative Chief Jonás Hernández, regional prosecutors, and directors from the technical and support teams.
