The Public Ministry, through the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor´s Offcie, succeeded in having the Quiché Criminal Court sentence Fredy Adolfo Ajanel García and Obdulio Neftalí Donis Beltrán to 30 years of non-parole imprisonment for the crime of kidnapping.

The incident occurred in 2022 when Ajanel arrived at a vehicle lot owned by the victim, ostensibly to purchase a car. However, after completing mechanical tests, they subdued him and transported him to the village of Chitatul, where Donis Beltrán held him captive.

Subsequently, negotiations commenced, with the perpetrators demanding Q240,000 for the victim’s release. However, they ultimately accepted a payment of Q150,000.

As part of the investigation, the prosecution team determined the involvement of three individuals, including the two convicted individuals.
