The Public Ministry, through the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office, and with support from the Inspector General’s Office of the National Civil Police (PNC), coordinated an operation that led to the arrest of five PNC agents accused of forming part of a criminal structure dedicated to illegally detaining citizens and demanding money in exchange for their release.

Confidential Tip Uncovers Illegal Detentions

On the night of August 25, a confidential report alerted authorities to illegal detentions taking place at the former Substation 15-3-2, located in Boca del Monte, Villa Canales.

Minutes later, Internal Affairs investigators arrived at the scene and found two men handcuffed inside the police station, and a third victim detained outside.

The victims stated that PNC officers had taken them from the farm where they worked as security guards, seized their firearms, and demanded Q18,000 for their release.

The farm’s legal representative confirmed the accusations, stating that the agents requested money in exchange for releasing the workers.

Evidence & Legal Action

The Public Ministry processed and secured key evidence, including:

• Firearms
• Mobile phones
• Vehicles linked to the incident

The accused officers have been brought before a competent judge. Meanwhile, the victims received protection and care, and all physical evidence has been properly packaged and sent for forensic analysis.

The investigation continues under charges of illegal detention and attempted extortion.
