Interagency Coordination: Seizure of Drugs Valued at Over 232 Million Quetzals
The Narcotics Prosecutor´s Office of the Public Ministry, in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and National Defense, conducted operations from March 9 to 12, 2024, inspecting four boats intercepted on the Pacific coast.
The vessels were transported to the Pacific Naval Base located in Puerto San José, Escuintla.
As a result of the operations, 2,208 packages tested positive for cocaine were seized, along with a mobile phone, a radio, a compass, and a GPS device.
The seized drugs were located as follows:
Boat 1: 805 packages
Boats 2 and 3: 1,163 packages
Boat 4: 240 packages
The apprehension of 11 individuals was also coordinated, including 6 Mexicans, 3 Guatemalans, and 2 Ecuadorians.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the drugs have an estimated value of US$29,808,000.00, approximately equivalent to Q232,652,036.16.
