Legal Fusion: Public Ministry and ANAM Join Hands in Collaborative Accord

With the steadfast commitment to continue bringing justice closer to the Guatemalan population and in line with coordinated interinstitutional efforts to strengthen communication ties between the Public Ministry and the National Association of Municipalities of the Republic of Guatemala (ANAM), authorities from both institutions met this morning to reaffirm the commitment to bolster bilateral efforts for the benefit of communities across the national territory.

 

In this regard, the Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, and the President of ANAM, Mr. Sebastián Siero Asturias, signed the Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement between ANAM and the Public Ministry, aiming to bring justice closer to all municipalities of Guatemala through coordinated actions. This includes engagement with community leaders, support from the Public Ministry’s interpreter network for receiving complaints in Mayan languages, and linkage with referral networks to ensure crime victims access municipal programs, among other measures.

The President of ANAM, Mr. Sebastián Siero Asturias, expressed gratitude for these initiatives, acknowledging their significant contribution to the population of communities. He affirmed continued full support for Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, recognizing the historic milestone
of coordinated work between both institutions.

 

Mr. William Valiente Villatoro, Departmental President of ANAM, reiterated full support for Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, affirming her dedication to the Guatemalan population. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of providing suitable space in the Retalhuleu department for both the Public Ministry, the Comptroller General of Accounts, and the National Civil Police. Consequently, he facilitated the donation of land for these institutions.

 

At the event, the following officials participated: the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretaries-General, Regional Coordinating Prosecutors, Regional Prosecutors from various regions of the country, the Anti-Corruption Secretary, the Secretary of International Affairs and Cooperation, the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Analysis, the Deputy Secretary of Criminal Policy, the Deputy Secretary of Indigenous Peoples, the Secretary of Women, the Director of the Training Unit, the Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat of Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Development. Representatives from ANAM included the First, Second, and Third Vice Presidents; Secretary, Treasurer, Departmental Vice Presidents, Coordinators of Association Representatives, among other officials and
members of the Association.
