The Public Ministry, through the Narcotics Crimes Prosecutor’s Office and in coordination with the Metropolitan Regional Prosecutor, executed a high-impact operation at the Pacific Naval Base following the interception of a maritime vessel carrying illicit cargo in Pacific Ocean waters. This mission was conducted under the interagency mandate of the National Interinstitutional Commission Against Drug Trafficking (CICNAG).

Key outcomes included:

• Seizure of 1,500 cocaine packages, meticulously inventoried: 37 sacks containing 40 packages each, and one sack with 20 packages, for a total of 1,500 drug packets.
• Arrest of three individuals, all of Ecuadorian nationality—Junior Daniel “Q”, Juan Javier “T”, and Julio Eduardo “F”—for their alleged involvement in the narcotics operation.
• Recovery of additional evidence including: mobile phones, GPS device, satellite phone, radio transmitter, and personal belongings found aboard the vessel.
• Technical forensic processing conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, including fingerprint evidence collection on the vessel.

This operation dealt a significant blow to transnational drug trafficking networks, reinforcing Guatemala’s commitment to interagency collaboration, enforcement of anti-narcotics laws, and protection of national security. Additional similar interdictions occurred previously on July 8 and July 15, including a semi-submersible vessel seizure.
