Pacific Bust: Authorities Seize 968 Suspected Cocaine Packages

The Public Ministry, through the Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office in interinstitutional coordination with the General Subdirectorate of Antinarcotics Information Analysis, inspected, on March 11, two vessels that illegally entered the country.

The boats, named Valentina and Shalom, were intercepted by the National Defense Navy at 150 nautical miles, in the Pacific Ocean, and were transported to the Pacific Naval Base, located in Puerto San José, Escuintla, to be inspected.

As a result of the diligence, 38 bundles with a total of 1,163 packages containing presumptive cocaine content were seized, according to preliminary field testing; also a communication radio and a Garmin GPS.

In addition, the apprehension of three individuals who were on board the vessels was coordinated.

On Saturday, March 9, the prosecutor’s office led the seizure of 805 packages of cocaine that were also found on an illegal vessel, bringing the total seized in the last few days to 1,968 packages.
