The Unit against Sexual Exploitation of the Human Trafficking Prosecutor’s Office obtained a conviction against José Arnoldo Paredes Muñoz, alias ‘Carlos,’ based on evidence presented to the Specialized Criminal Sentencing Tribunal for Crimes of Human Trafficking.

The court imposed an eight-year prison sentence and a fine of Q300,000 for the crime of human trafficking, and a six-year prison sentence and a fine of Q50,000 for the production of pornography involving minors.

Paredes Muñoz was arrested on April 13, 2023, during a raid conducted at a property located on 8th Street in Zone 1 of Guatemala City, where the business Club Sport Bar, of which he was the owner, operated. During the raid, a teenage victim of sexual exploitation was rescued
