In compliance with its legal mandate and within the framework of interinstitutional coordination, the Public Ministry responded to an invitation from the Presidential Secretariat for Women (SEPREM) and actively participated in the workshop held on January 27 and 28 for the update of the National Policy for the Promotion and Comprehensive Development of Women (PNPDIM) 2026–2041.

The Public Ministry participated through the Secretariat for Women, the Secretariat for Indigenous Peoples, and the Secretariat for Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Development, reaffirming its commitment to incorporating a gender perspective, cultural relevance, and a human rights approach in public management.

The PNPDIM 2026–2041 constitutes the guiding public policy instrument aimed at promoting, protecting, and guaranteeing the human rights of women in all their diversity, as well as fostering their comprehensive development, equal opportunities, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence, through coordinated State action.

Its update seeks to align strategic guidelines with the country’s current and future challenges, incorporating national and international standards, as well as gender, intercultural, and intersectional approaches.

The workshop was attended by Ms. Lucrecia Varinia Vásquez Abadía, Secretary for Women; Ms. Lilian Karina Xinico Xiquitá, Deputy Secretary for Indigenous Peoples; and technical teams and specialized personnel from the Public Ministry.

During the sessions, proposals presented by SEPREM were reviewed, and the Public Ministry provided technical inputs on gender, cultural relevance, interinstitutional coordination, and planning, within the scope of its institutional mandate.

Other entities from the justice sector and the Executive Branch also participated, strengthening the collective process of building a public policy aimed at ensuring the full exercise of women’s rights in Guatemala.

Through these actions, the Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to contributing—through criminal prosecution and interinstitutional coordination—to the strengthening of public policies that promote equality, justice, and respect for women’s human rights.
