The Human Trafficking Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the Metropolitan Regional Prosecutor, convened the First National Meeting of Assistant Prosecutors Specialized in the Crime of Human Trafficking under the Public Ministry.

Held on April 11, the strategic session brought together over 25 assistant prosecutors from the Central, Western, Northern, and Northeastern regions—marking the first time the institution assembled a national task force of frontline prosecutors specializing in this transnational crime.

Key participants included Mrs. Jackeline Díaz, Chief of the Victim Attention Coordination Department, whose team conducted critical training on:

• Revised protocols and procedural guidelines for prosecutors and forensic psychologists to properly request and draft psychological reports within the framework of criminal proceedings.
• Guidelines for requesting social investigation reports and protocols for drafting social work evaluations, aimed at reinforcing the evidentiary value of victim background in judicial processes.

Additionally, Mr. Roy Rodríguez, a lead human trafficking prosecutor, presented on the updated interagency response pathway for online child sexual exploitation and abuse cases, addressing growing digital crime trends.

The session concluded with a case performance review led by Mrs. Nancy Paiz, Acting Section Chief for the Human Trafficking Prosecutor’s Office, and Mr. Carlos A. Figueroa, Prosecuting Attorney for Human Trafficking, evaluating case filings, indictment rates, and pretrial outcomes from Q1 2025. They also outlined new enforcement strategies to meet conviction and dismantling targets for the current year.

This milestone gathering strengthens victim-centered prosecution and provides specialized prosecutors with actionable tools to uphold international standards of due diligence, criminal accountability, and anti-impunity.
