Public Ministry coordinates first extradition arrest of 2024
The Public Ministry coordinated with the National Civil Police to arrest Luis Enrique Ruiz Morales, also known as «Manía,» for extradition purposes to the United States of America.

He is charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute five kilograms or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine, intending, knowing, and having reasonable cause to believe that such substance would be illegally imported into the United States.
His arrest took place in the city of Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez.
2023 Results
During the year 2023, inter-institutional coordination between the Public Ministry, special and elite forces of the National Civil Police, and the Government of the United States of America allowed, with great efficiency, to carry out the corresponding operational actions to locate each of the individuals required by different districts of the United States.
As a result, 25 people were arrested for extradition purposes, 21 of whom are related to drug trafficking offenses.
Among those arrested are two foreigners serving sentences in the country for drug trafficking, as well as a Guatemalan who is under investigation in a criminal process for acts committed in Guatemala. The extradition process will take place upon completion of the sentence.
