The Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office, following a complaint filed by the National Registry of Persons (Renap) regarding an organization issuing fake Personal Identification Documents (DPI), initiated an investigation and carried out search, inspection, registration, and seizure procedures in properties located in zone 11 of the capital city.

More than 200 counterfeit public documents were found, including tax stamps, vehicle ownership titles, registration cards, high school diplomas, personal identification documents, firearm carrying licenses, documents from Public Finance, and the Ministry of Education, among others.

Furthermore, coordination was made with the National Civil Police for the in-flagrante arrest of four individuals: Miguel Aurelio García Rosales, Karen Marleny Contreras de la Roca, Marco Antonio Rax López, and Edgar Alberto Estrada Marroquín, for the crimes of material and ideological falsehood.

Additionally, the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office presented sufficient rational evidence before the First Instance Court for Narcotics and Environmental Crimes of the Guatemala department, which decided to initiate a criminal process against Contreras de la Roca and Rax López for the crime of material falsehood.

The judicial body also decided to grant the accused alternative measures and set a four-month deadline for the Public Ministry to conclude the investigation.
