The Public Ministry, through the Women’s Prosecution Agency in El Progreso, succeeded in obtaining a conviction from the Sentencing Tribunal for Femicide and other forms of Violence against Women in that department, sentencing Luswin Josué García Suchité to 15 years and 9 months in prison for the crime of rape with special aggravating circumstances and an additional six years for sexual assault, totaling 21 years and 9 months of non-parole imprisonment.

According to the prosecuting team leading the investigation, the incidents occurred on October 1st and 26th, 2022, in the villages of El Zapote and Espíritu Santo, in the municipality of El Jícaro, where, after threatening the victim, he assaulted her.

During the hearing, he was ordered to pay compensatory damages, as well as psychological therapy.
