The Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to service and guarantees access to justice during Holy Week 2025
With a steadfast commitment to providing continuous and high-quality service, the Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, accompanied by the Secretary General, Mr. Ángel Arnoldo Pineda Ávila, held a working meeting to establish the necessary and effective coordination measures for the services to be provided by the Public Ministry offices throughout the country during Holy Week 2025.
The meeting was attended by regional prosecutors, deputy secretaries general, and the heads of the Anti-Corruption Secretariat , the Secretariat for Women, the Secretariat for Criminal Policy, and the Secretariat for International Affairs and Cooperation. Also present were the Coordinator of the Integrated Information System, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (DICRI), the Chief Administrative Officer, the Financial Director, and the Director of Human Resources.
In addition, the meeting included the acting heads of the Secretariat for Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Development; the Secretariat for Indigenous Peoples; the Department of Security; and the Department of Information and Press, as well as the Senior Advisor.
Among the planned actions is the uninterrupted service that will be provided through rotating shifts in the prosecutorial, technical, and administrative areas. Likewise, interinstitutional coordination will be strengthened to effectively and promptly respond to criminal activity or increased tourism in each region.
Informational materials will also be distributed to provide recommendations for the Guatemalan population, along with details about the digital tools the Public Ministry offers to file reports 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Attorney General instructed the secretaries, deputy secretaries, regional prosecutors, and heads of administrative and technical departments to pass along these directives to all personnel under their supervision. This ensures the maintenance of effective attention and the continuous delivery of quality service, thereby guaranteeing access to justice for all Guatemalans during the Holy Week holiday.
For his part, Secretary General Mr. Pineda emphasized that the measures adopted enhance coordination for the effective fulfillment of the Public Ministry’s mandate nationwide.
The Public Ministry reminds the public that they may call hotline 1572 to report crimes of violence against women and activate Isabel-Claudina Alerts, and 1574 to report extortion crimes.
Additionally, the institution’s website www.mp.gob.gt, the MP Virtual mobile app, the Panic Button, and the 341 Public Ministry offices throughout the country are available, along with the specialized MAINA and MAIMI service models—operational 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
