The Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity, achieved, based on presented investigative evidence, a guilty verdict from the Seventh Criminal Court against an employee of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) for the crimes of influence trafficking and duty non-compliance. The convicted individual admitted responsibility, leading the judge to sentence them to two years and six months in prison.

This marks the first conviction in the Case Corruption Semilla – Phase I, involving irregularities in the formation of the political party Movimiento Semilla. The investigation led to two additional phases: Phase II, addressing Unregistered Electoral Financing and Money Laundering, and Phase III, focusing on Irregularities committed by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal in the 2023 electoral process, disclosed in a press conference on December 8, 2023.

For the Phase I investigation, four Supreme Electoral Tribunal employees were also summoned for an initial statement regarding the offense of duty non-compliance. Additionally, petitions to remove immunity of César Bernardo Arévalo De León and Samuel Andrés Pérez Álvarez, Congress members, for potential crimes, including the continuous use of forged documents with electoral aggravation, failure to report, disobedience, and obstruction of justice.
