Public Ministry Secures Convictions Against 46 Members of the “Raza Chapina” Clique of the Barrio 18 Gang
The Anti-Extortion Prosecutor’s Office obtained a verdict from the High-Risk Criminal Court, “Group C,” which handed down convictions against 46 members of the “Raza Chapina” clique of the Barrio 18 gang.
The convictions stem from criminal activities committed between August 2017 and October 2018, during which the defendants made monetary demands through threatening phone calls to victims in the departments of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, and Sacatepéquez.
Following an exhaustive judicial process, the Court imposed sentences for crimes including criminal association, conspiracy to commit murder, extortionate obstruction of transit, conspiracy for human trafficking, conspiracy to illegally transport firearms, and intimidating exactions, among others. The sentences reflect the gravity of the offenses and underscore the Public Ministry’s commitment to combating organized crime.
Below are the sentences imposed on the primary defendants:
- Gustavo Adolfo Martínez Fuentes, alias “Velorio”: 178 years imprisonment and a fine of Q300,000.
- Francisco Roynel Chajón Martínez, alias “Fernando”: 171 years imprisonment.
- Pedro Luis Bernal Tun, alias “Liro Loco”: 97 years and 4 months imprisonment.
- Rolando Nahamán Carmona, alias “Gato”: 66 years and 8 months imprisonment, plus a fine of Q300,000.
- Roberta Angélica Agustín Domínguez: 60 years imprisonment.
- Genry Geovany Itzol Cruz, alias “Loco”: 53 years and 10 months imprisonment, plus a fine of Q400,000.
- Josué Benjamín Lima Calanche, alias “Big Cola” or “Compota”: 40 years imprisonment.
- María Alicia Cárdenas Sequén: 39 years imprisonment.
- Carlos Estuardo Álvarez Osorio: 37 years imprisonment.
- Marina Alicia Osorio Rodríguez: 31 years imprisonment.
- Josué Estuardo Cruz Jiménez, alias “El Carnero”: 31 years imprisonment.
- Mauricio Cemeño Solís: 31 years imprisonment.
- Julio César Domínguez Chigüela, alias “Slepyn”: 30 years and 8 months imprisonment, plus a fine of Q300,000.
- Esvin Leonardo Jiménez de Paz, alias “Epi” or “Pingüino”: 24 years and 8 months imprisonment.
- Marta Luisa Samol Tum: 21 years and 4 months imprisonment, plus a fine of Q400,000.
- Herber Eliseo Díaz Cantoral, alias “Flaco” or “Parka”: 18 years and 8 months imprisonment.
- Mariela Chavaj Hernández, alias “La Kim”: 14 years imprisonment.
- Jorge Ausencio Juárez González: 12 years imprisonment.
- Josué Estuardo Jiménez Juárez: 12 years imprisonment.
- María Cristina Cujcuj López: 12 years imprisonment.
- Sujeidy Maribel de León: 12 years imprisonment.
- Sandra Viviana Galindo Ferrer: 12 years imprisonment.
- Óscar David Quintana Raxtún: 8 years imprisonment.
- Sergio Iván Patzán Batz: 6 years imprisonment.
- Mario Enrique Chávez Aguirre: 6 years imprisonment, with an order of expulsion from the country upon completion of the sentence.
- Manuel de Jesús Cardona Gómez: 6 years imprisonment.
Before the trial began, 20 of the accused opted for a special procedure by accepting charges, resulting in the following sentences:

- Patricia Yolanda Suilá Sactic: 4 years imprisonment.
- Kimberlly Yajaira Arias González: 8 years imprisonment.

- Humberto Mardoqueo Lima: 6 years imprisonment.
- María Leonor Juárez González: 8 years imprisonment.
- Luis Ángel Buch Tum: 6 years imprisonment.
- Enma Consuelo Godínez Buch: 8 years imprisonment.
- Cristina Isabel Agustín Vásquez: 8 years imprisonment.
- Pedro Eduardo García Ordóñez: 8 years imprisonment.
- Mario Adelmiro Caal Quej: 8 years imprisonment.
- Joselyn Piedad Guzmán Aroche: 4 years imprisonment.
- Dora Elizabeth Tacatic: 12 years imprisonment.
- María Selena López Hernández: 4 years imprisonment.
- Adyeri Yazmín Boteo González: 8 years imprisonment.
- Claudia Karina Cujcuj López: 12 years imprisonment.
- Carmen Analí Marroquín Pérez: 8 years imprisonment.
- Blanca Elizabeth Méndez Aragón: 6 years imprisonment.
- Claudia Karina Revolorio López: 14 years imprisonment.
This case represents a significant blow to the criminal structure of the Barrio 18 gang, demonstrating the coordinated efforts of the Anti-Extortion Prosecutor’s Office to dismantle criminal networks that threaten public security.
