Major Operation Leads to Seizure of Weapons and Arrest of Mara 18 Gang Members
A series of large-scale operations carried out last Tuesday by the Prosecutor’s Office against Extortion, which directed state security forces, resulted in the capture in flagrante of 17 people, including three minors, as well as the seizure of an arsenal and a significant amount of drugs.
The operations focused on several points in zones 1 and 3 of the capital city, specifically in the neighborhoods of La Arenera, El Gallito, and Avenida Elena.
In one property, four people were arrested: Kevin C., Jonathan L., Johnny G., and Wilber L.
In this location and its surroundings, authorities seized an arsenal including heavy-caliber weapons:
- 14 carbines
- 2 AR-15 rifles
- 1 submachine gun
- 10 9mm pistols
- 2 12-gauge shotguns
- 2 silencers
- 1,057 rounds of various calibers
- 40 rifle magazines
- 2 pistol magazines
- 13 bulletproof vests
In addition to the weapons, a large quantity of drugs was confiscated: 160 «colmillos» and 165 capsules of cocaine, and 875 «stones» of crack. Also seized were four portable radios, 18 cell phones, a money-counting machine, five cars, and two motorcycles.

Also captured were Kevin M., alias «Seco Paro,» and Roberto L., alias «El Oscuro,» both identified as alleged leaders («paros») of the Patuluntecos Locos clique of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13).
Five other adults were arrested in the El Gallito neighborhood, zone 3, and two more in Avenida Elena in zone 1, making a total of 14 detainees.
As part of the same operation, three teenagers aged 14, 16, and 17 were taken to the Juvenile Court for minors in conflict with the penal law.
