Public Ministry Upholds Justice in the Fight Against Femicide and Digital Violence
The Public Ministry, through its Secretariat for Women, is taking decisive action against violence toward women as part of the UNiTE campaign, under the theme: “16 Days of Activism: Ending Digital Violence Against Women and Girls”. The campaign runs from November 25 to December 10, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark in the global fight for gender equality.
In coordination with the Femicides Unit, the Public Ministry hosted the event “Access to Specialized Justice and Challenges in Criminal Investigation and Prosecution”, emphasizing the critical role of specialized investigation and prosecution of femicide, the most extreme manifestation of violence against women, girls, and adolescents. Authorities stressed the importance of reporting and investigating all forms of violence, including digital abuse, and called on the public to actively participate in prevention efforts.
As a symbolic tribute to victims, the Public Ministry launched the exhibition “VOICES FOR JUSTICE”, displayed in the Central Gerona Building lobby from November 25 to December 10, honoring victims and raising public awareness of the ongoing fight against gender-based violence.
The Public Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to accessible, sensitive, and transformative justice—justice that does not revictimize, listens, and respects the dignity of women who seek protection and truth. Through continued interinstitutional coordination and law enforcement efforts, the Public Ministry remains at the forefront of efforts to ensure a life free from violence for all women and girls.
