Public Ministry Achieves Positive Results After Concluding the “Week Against Extortion»
From March 17 to 21, 2025, the Public Ministry, through the Prosecutor’s Office Against Extortion, carried out actions as part of its direct fight against extortion. A total of 48 search, inspection, registration, and evidence seizure operations were conducted, yielding significant results that will contribute to the ongoing battle against this crime.
In summary, 21 individuals were arrested, and authorities seized one rifle, 46 small bags of marijuana, 29 crack tablets, 42 rounds of firearm ammunition, and Q15,900.00 in cash.
Monday:
Following 11 search operations, authorities struck the “Little Psyco Criminal” clique of the Barrio 18 gang, which operates in Santa Catarina Pinula, Mixco, San Raymundo, and San Juan Sacatepéquez in the Guatemala department, as well as in Santa Rosa.
As a result, the following individuals were arrested for the crimes of illicit association, extortion-related obstruction of transit, and extortion:

- Jackeline Nataly Natareno López
- Vivian Andrea López Sigán
- Evelyn Johana Pixtún de Chile
- María Alba Acevedo Sumalé
- Eduardo Alexander Delgado Deras
Tuesday:
Extortion prosecutors intensified prevention efforts by setting up control checkpoints at strategic locations in the capital to identify and dismantle criminal structures engaged in extortion. As a result, Wilfrido Moisés Jiménez Ramírez was arrested. He had an outstanding warrant for rebellion due to his failure to comply with a sentence for illicit association.
Wednesday:
Eleven search operations were carried out, leading to significant investigative progress. New lines of investigation were identified, ongoing cases were strengthened, and authorities seized one rifle and more than 40 rounds of ammunition.
Thursday:
On the fourth day of anti-extortion operations, the Prosecutor’s Office Against Extortion coordinated the arrest of seven individuals during search, inspection, registration, and evidence seizure operations in Chinautla, Guatemala, and in Santiago and San Lucas Sacatepéquez, Sacatepéquez.
The arrested individuals, all charged with extortion, are:

- Sonia Marisol Camey Yucuté
- Lisbeth Andrea Sacajau Choc
- Joel Alberto García de Paz
- Brenda Patricia Vásquez Matías
Friday:
Seven individuals were arrested during search operations:

- Karen Mishel Tacatic
- Evelin Juliana Hernández Pérez
- Aylin Alvizurez Say
- Heydi Jeannette Azurdia Sánchez
- Flor de María Azurdia Lemus
- Erik David Boror Jiménez
Additionally, during an inspection at the Maximum-Security Prison Fraijanes II, two cell phones were found.
