Attorney General and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta leads historic national workshop on forensic investigation best practices.
As part of the Public Ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving criminal justice, Attorney General and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, inaugurated the First National Workshop on Best Practices of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRI).
The event, organized by the Training Unit (UNICAP) in coordination with DICRI, aims to reinforce the technical and legal competencies of prosecutors and forensic personnel, with a focus on crime scene management and proper handling of forensic evidence.

The inauguration was attended by:
- Julia María Juárez Sagüil, Second Deputy Secretary General
- Sergio Ortiz Herrera, Director of UNICAP
- Óscar Sagastume Álvarez, Director of DICRI
- Edwin Marino Salazar Díaz, Head of Technical Scientific Department, INACIF
- Edgar Antonio Lau Peña, Head of Forensic Management, INACIF


The workshop promotes:
- Interagency cooperation
- Standardized investigative procedures
- Scientific and ethical handling of evidence
- Professional exchange among national experts
Topics covered include:
- Crime scene protocols
- Chain of custody
- Technical reporting
- Interinstitutional coordination
- Ethics in handling criminal cases
With participation from prosecutors, forensic experts, INACIF, the Judiciary, National Civil Police, Municipal Traffic Police, and fire departments, this initiative reflects Mrs. Porras Argueta’s leadership in building a more effective and transparent justice system.
