Public Ministry Begins Construction of Tower III to Strengthen Access to Justice and Modernize Services
The Public Ministry of Guatemala celebrated the laying of the cornerstone for Tower III, a symbolic event reaffirming its ongoing commitment to institutional modernization, strengthening the justice system, and improving service to the public.
The ceremony was presided over by the Attorney General of the Republic and Chief of the Public Ministry, Mrs. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, who emphasized that this new building not only addresses the institution’s structural needs but also represents a legacy of strength, determination, and forward-looking vision.

“This project aims to improve conditions both for those who work within the institution and for those seeking justice. Tower III was designed to meet the specific needs of the Public Ministry, incorporating dignified spaces, specialized offices for victim assistance, optimal furnishings, and an efficient, sustainable, and secure infrastructure,” stated the Attorney General.
Tower III will be integrated into the central headquarters and will significantly contribute to reducing overcrowding in various departments, optimizing resources by eliminating external leases, and ensuring more functional conditions for institutional work. The project follows high technical and environmental standards, prioritizing the responsible use of energy, water, and natural light.
The event was also attended by Mr. Eduardo Mejía Calito, Secretary of International Affairs and Cooperation, who highlighted the project’s importance in strengthening the operational capacity of the Public Ministry.

Additionally, Mr. Alejandro Borgonio, Project Director at Rezgua, reaffirmed the company’s technical commitment to delivering a high-quality project that meets institutional requirements.
Mr. Frank Helmuth Bode Fuentes, Comptroller General of Accounts, praised the transparency of the bidding and construction process, noting that three auditing entities oversee the project, and that adherence to deadlines and quality materials ensures a flawless execution.

Other attendees included Mr. Jonas Rodolfo Hernández Pérez, Administrative Chief; Erick Eduardo Schaeffer Cabrera, First Deputy Secretary-General; and Mr. Cesar Rivera, representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Tower III stands as a symbol of the Public Ministry’s firm commitment to accessible, efficient, and dignified justice, as well as to consolidating a stronger, more modern, and better-coordinated institution serving the people of Guatemala.
